download (3)The Oneida boy’s tennis squad continued its outstanding season today, as the Indians traveled to Camden and defeated the Blue Devils by a score of 6-1. The win gave Oneida a season sweep over Camden. 

Oneida swept all four singles matches and two of three doubles matches, to earn the team’s 12th victory of the season.

Warm, humid conditions, with temperatures in the 80’s prevailed on the hard courts at Camden High School this afternoon.

The warm temperatures and brilliant sunshine caused fatigue to players from both teams, as we seemed to go from early spring to late summer in just a day! 

Oneida’s Jeffrey Coulter stepped up to #1 singles today, in the absence of David Kahn and Coulter took out Camden #1 Jesse Muller (6-3, 6-2) in the most hotly contested match of the afternoon. 

Indians #2 this afternoon was Andrew Palmer, who defeated Camden’s Tanner Waterman, also by scores of (6-2, 6-3).

download (3)In the third singles match, Oneida’s Sean Spooner defeated Camden’s Spencer Connor, (6-0, 6-0).

Oneida achieved the sweep of the singles matches when #4 Mike McCormick knocked out Camden’s Andrew DePasquale, (6-0, 6-0). 

Camden’s #1 doubles team of Charlie Price and Sam Wright defeated Oneida’s David Mondrick and Zachary Wartella, by scores of (6-3, 6-4), in a marathon match that gave Camden its only point of the afternoon.

Oneida’s Brandon Dibble and Jordan O’Connell teamed up to defeat Camden’s Ryan Lisenko and Zach Wartella (6-2, 7-5), to even up the doubles points at 1-1.

In 3rd doubles, Nate Moyer and Brad Vrooman defeated Emerson Carpenter and Mitchell Tompkins (6-1, 6-0), to give the Indians the 6-1 victory. 

The win improves Oneida to (12-1) on the season, (8-1) in the TVL, tied for first place with New Hartford.

Camden drops to (2-9, 1-8) and will conclude the regular season tomorrow at Whitesboro. 

The Section III Tennis Tournament begins next Monday.
