Marcus Smithling scored 15 points to lead No. 4 state-ranked Oriskany to a 58-50 victory over No. 5 New York Mills Monday night. The Redskins improve to 17-0 overall and 10-0 in league competition.

Oriskany started strong, jumping out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter. The Marauders hung with their league rival for the rest of regulation, but the Redskins defense managed to maintain the deficit and secure Oriskany’s 17th straight win.

Oriskany’s Richard Phelps matched his season-high with 13 points. Ryan Schmadel, the program’s all-time leading scorer, contributed 10 points in the victory. He has averaged precisely 20 points per game this season, for a total of 360.

Terrance Nichols led New York Mills with 24 points, while Griffin Baur chipped in 9.
