The Oriskany All-Stars and West Utica All-Stars faced off in New Hartford Saturday afternoon in a District 10 tournament match-up.
In the first inning, Noga was able to get out of the inning facing just four batters as he got centerfielder Alex Colon to ground out, pitcher Todd Manolescu to strikeout and catcher Raymond Land to pop out to right field.
The only West Utica batter to reach in the first was shortstop Anthony Lindsey who reached on an error and then stole second.
The Oriskany offense wasted no time getting on the board when Matt Noga ran out a grounder and first baseman Connor Bloyat struck out.
Shortstop Ryan Enos stepped up and blasted a shot to left field for a double.
Noga then scored the first run of the game after a wild pitch followed by a ground out to second which allowed Enos to score for a quick 2-0 lead.
Matt Noga went back to work in the top of the second inning when he retired second baseman Giovanni Ayala on strikes and third baseman Riley Fischer reached after he lined one back to Noga who bobbled the ball and was unable to make the play at first.
Chucky Winant was then brought into the game as a pinch runner, but was later thrown out stealing.
Right fielder John Korzeniowski made his way to the plate and muscled out a single, however West Utica was unable to capitalize after David Jordan struck out to end the inning.
The second inning proved to be a big inning for the Oriskany All-Stars as they put up four runs in the inning to take a 6-0 advantage.
The inning began when second baseman Aaron Drake drew a walk and centerfielder Donovan Williams was hit by a pitch.
Another wild pitch followed which allowed Drake to score and then a double by Ryan Enos and an error allowed both Williams and Noga to score taking a 5-0 lead.
Finally, a passed ball scored Enos and Caleb Hoffman struck out to end the inning but not before Oriskany held a dominating 6-0 lead.
The third inning proved to be scoreless for both teams with West Utica going down 1-2-3 with a ground out and two strikeouts and Oriskany going down on a similar fashion with one runner reaching on a walk, but three strikeouts recorded in the inning to retire the side.
The fourth inning was not much better for West Utica as just one batter reached by way of a walk to Manolescu, but a strikeout, lineout and pop out ended any scoring chances.
Oriskany was able to add a run in the bottom of the fourth after a pop out by Owen Edwards, a single and stolen base by Noga, followed by a wild pitch and then a grounded out by Bloyat pushed in a run making it 7-0.
The sole person to reach base in the inning was Chucky Winant who singled.
West Utica starter Todd Manolescu took the mound for the start of the bottom of the fifth and gave up a walk to Caleb Hoffman and was the replaced by Anthony Lindsey.
After a wild pitch and a stolen base, Hoffman found his way to third and scored after Anthony Rotundo reached on an error.
Aaron Drake then stepped up and drew a walk and an unnecessary throw to first by the catcher got away from the first baseman and Rotundo scored on the play making it 9-0.
The final run of the game crossed home plate on a wild pitch during Donovan Williams’ at-bat made the game 10-0 and ended per Little League scoring rules.
With the loss West Utica is eliminated and Oriskany advances in the tournament.
