Blue Devils Tool Box – Full of Hard Work and High Hopes

My Hometown Sports went on a high school, football, camping trip to the Northwest Territory this afternoon, for a visit with head coach, Aaron Fiorini, and the 2013 Camden Blue Devils Football Team.

Ryan McCarthy returns to propel the Devils offense.

“We lost quite a few quality guys, that’s for sure. We are going to need to adapt the game plan to the talent that we have in order to be successful,” Coach Fiorini told MHTS. He added “That being said, we have a great nucleus returning that our staff feels we can win with.”

The focal point of the Camden offense will definitely be multi-faceted, senior quarterback, Ryan McCarthy, who begins his third varsity season this year.

“Ryan can definitely do a number of things for the team. We are going to need him to come through in a whole bunch of ways,” Fiorini said, explaining further, “He can run it, he can throw it, and he has a good head on his shoulders back there.”

th_football9McCarthy will also see time on defense as the Devils safety and will handle the punting and place kicking duties as well.

Driving the bus to Blue Devils away games may require some additional training.

If McCarthy is going to move the chains, the Camden offensive line will need to be hitting on all cylinders.

Coach Fiorini believes the trenches will be a strength area this season.

The lines will be centered around senior lineman, Ian Radell, who also enters his third varsity season.

The Blue Devils running game begins with seasoned veteran running back, Joe Muller, a senior, who had a terrific 2012 campaign.

A glance around the practice facility today saw some things sticking out like a sore thumb.

Camden’s got some big fellas, okay a whole bunch of big fellas.

One, the Blue Devils are big up front.

Two, the Blue Devils are physical.

Three, the enthusiasm among the players and coaches is as high as any club we’ve visited.

The blue team will need all of the above, as they host perennial Class “B” powers, Cazenovia (9/6) and Oneida (9/13), both at home, on the first two Friday nights of the 2013 season.

Camden will, once again, be aligned in the brutal Class “B” East with Cazenovia, Mexico, Oneida, South Jefferson, VVS and newcomer, Central Valley Academy.

Best of luck to the Blue Devils for a successful 2013 campaign from MHTS and thanks to Coach Fiorini for sharing some valuable preparation time with us this afternoon.

Joe Muller is a seasoned veteran and will be a work horse this season.
