The High School hockey season came to an end last week at the Auditorium in Utica as Suffren and Kenmore-East won Division I and Division II crowns.

As the season ends post season honors are being handed out as well. Good news for Rome Free Academy’s Black Knight supporters as Garrett Reilley has been named as a member of the New York State High School Hockey Coaches Association’s Division I all-state team Second Team.

Reilley, a senior, led RFA to a league title and a 21-2-0 record this season, including a 1-0 loss to West Genesee in the Section III championships at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Reilley, a forward, had 29 goals and 20 assists this season to help cap off a great career. In his five seasons Garrett had career totals of 69 goals, 84 assists and 153 points.

Three other players from Section III were also honored. A trio of West Genesee Wildcats earned All-State honors in Division I.

Senior defenseman R.J. Tinklepaugh and senior forward Shawn Lynch made the first team and junior defenseman Robbie Michel earned a spot on the second team.


Tinklepaugh and senior forward John Redgate of Suffern shared Division I Player of the Year honors.

Cicero-North Syracuse junior forward Eric Hamilton was an All-State honorable mention.

Kenmore East senior forward Don Battista was named the Division II Player of the Year.

Oswego seniors Josh Sova and John Phillips were first team all-state picks from Section III.

Cazenovia’s Brian Gara, Oswego’s Cody Mariano, and Skaneateles goalie Trevor Diamond made the second team, and Oswego’s Trent Yule was an honorable mention.
